The Sioux City Camera Club is pleased to introduce a new, simplified Competition Rules Manual for the 2026–2027 season.

The manual was created to make our competition rules easier to find, understand, and follow. Members will no longer need to search through the much larger Policies, Procedures & Competition Manual whenever they have a question about entering a photograph, preparing a print, submitting a digital image, or understanding how awards are determined.

The new manual brings all competition-related information together in one convenient and logically organized resource.

Clearer, Simpler and Easier to Use

The Competition Rules Manual is organized into four main sections:

• General Competition Rules
• Print Competition Rules
• Digital Competition Rules
• Awards and Photographer of the Year

Each section provides straightforward guidance designed to help both new and longtime members participate with confidence.

The manual explains entry eligibility, monthly entry limits, competition categories, judging procedures, digital file requirements, print preparation, awards, re-entry rules, and Photographer of the Year points.

Important Changes for the New Season

The manual also includes several changes taking effect during the 2026–2027 competition season, including:

• The addition of an Altered Reality category for both Digital and Print competitions
• Updated standards addressing the appropriate use of Artificial Intelligence
• The ability to re-enter images receiving an Honorable Mention
• Clarified rules regarding Judge Chair and judge eligibility
• More clearly defined judging and award procedures
• Updated Digital and Print competition schedules
• Simplified instructions for preparing and submitting entries

Several of these improvements were made in response to suggestions from Club members. Others were designed to eliminate uncertainty, improve consistency, and make our competitions fair and enjoyable for everyone.

Please Read the Manual Before Entering

The new competition rules will take effect beginning with our September 2026 Print Competition.

All members who plan to participate are strongly encouraged to read the manual before submitting their first entries of the season. Even experienced competitors should review it because several rules and procedures have changed.

The Competition Rules Manual is available on the Sioux City Camera Club website. It can be opened online, downloaded, saved to your computer, or printed for future reference.

Monthly competitions are one of the most enjoyable and educational parts of the Sioux City Camera Club. They give members an opportunity to share their photography, receive constructive feedback, learn from one another, and have their creativity recognized.
